My name is Jonathan. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and currently live in Oakland, California.
I work as producer at Cobra Creative in San Francisco. In my spare time, I curate art shows for ERA, a new bar/gallery in Oakland and teach a brainstorming/concepting course at Miami Ad School in San Francisco.
I'm an Aries with Aquarius rising, which makes me a fire + water sign and extremely volatile... emotionally, creatively and (especially) metaphorically.
I was inspired to get my first tattoo after watching "The Pillow Book" in 1997. It was One Love written in Hindi. My last tattoo was Lucky Man written in Hebrew. I currently have eight tattoos, and would like to get an Archie Dickens-inspired pinup as my ninth.
My first ever concert was Rick Astley and Martika at Great America in 1988. The best show I've ever seen was Interpol at Bottom of the Hill in 2002. The longest concert I've ever endured was Moby (and his five encores) at the Hollywood Palace in 1995. The worst concert I've attended was Cat Power at Great American Music hall in 2003 because she didn't bother singing.
Every day, I try to catch the clock reading 11:11 so I can make a wish. I believing in wishing for something until it comes true. (I've been successful a handful of times.)
I don't believe in true love as much as I believe in the right timing... but, I continue to remain just as hopeful and inspired.
My classic dream car was a black 1970s Chevy El Camino with white racing stripes until I saw this red Corvette Stingray for sale. I currently drive a pepper white Mini Cooper-S with black racing stripes. Her name is Penelope and she's two years old. I hope to take her through the Pacific Northwest sometime this year.
I spent 2008 reading Haruki Murakami exclusively, starting with "Norwegian Wood" in January and ending with "South of the Border, West of the Sun" in December. I read eleven of his books, with "Kafka on the Shore" the most memorable.
My roommate's name is Amelie. We've lived together since 2001, when she was nine months old. She passes the day sleeping near the window in her chaise, sleep walking every couple hours to her food bowl and to the litter box. Her favorite treats are Vitakitty Happy Hips and Bi-rite ice cream (especially the balsamic strawberry). Her favorite musicians are Norah Jones, Park Avenue Music and the Cocteau Twins. She dislikes other girls, often going through their purses if left on the floor (and yes, ladies, that's a warning).
